Veteran’s Day provides us with the perfect opportunity to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices that our country’s veterans have made and to thank them for their service. The freedoms we often take for granted here at home can be attributed to the men and women of the armed forces, past, present, and future. Their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their families and friends back home are not to be forgotten, and those sacrifices don’t end when they leave the service.
For many service members, re-entering the world as a civilian can be daunting. Life outside of the military can be a difficult adjustment. For Trinity’s Director of Development and honorably discharged USMC Sergeant E5 Jared Shepherd, the culture at Trinity has made that adjustment a little easier.
“The team here at Trinity holds itself to high standards, stays disciplined, and never compromises, just like the Marines I proudly served with,” said Jared when asked about his work at Trinity.
Jared served in the United States Marine Corps from 2003–2008, enlisting at just 17 years old. Like many other young men and women, the terrorist attacks on U.S. soil on September 11, 2001 played a huge role in his decision to enlist. Serving as a CH-46 helicopter crew chief and aerial gunner while on deployment in Iraq in 2005 and 2007, Jared used his knowledge and practical experience to train service members back home, taking on the role of flight crew instructor until he was honorably discharged in 2008.
In his role as Director of Development, Jared oversees Trinity’s talented team of web developers. Lately, their work has been geared entirely towards building and perfecting our proprietary technology and industry-disrupting website. It’s been a wild ride. The new site is going to offer our customers an unparalleled user experience. While this has been a difficult task, Jared has never shied away from a challenge.
Jared’s experience in the Marine Corps shines through in his work here, allowing him to bring more to the table than his software engineering expertise. He never settles. He always aims high. He infuses his team with the mindset that they’ll keep driving until the product is nothing short of excellent. His attitude serves as a reflection of all we hope to be here at Trinity, and we’re so grateful to have him.
Jared and all of the other veterans out there, we thank you for your service!
